About ecoinvent

 

ecoinvent is home to the world's most consistent and transparent life cycle inventory (LCI) database used in environmental assessments such as Carbon Footprints and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), as well as in Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs).
The database is an information source for, among others, sustainability experts, product designers, policy makers, researchers. It is sold and provided globally to businesses, consultants, academics and public entities.
The ecoinvent database is used worldwide by tens of thousands of users. ecoinvent is organised as a not-for-profit association, with its funding coming from licence sale

Junior Data Analyst (100%, 1 year)

 

 

What you can expect from us

An interesting and intellectually challenging work in an exciting environment. You will be given independent tasks related to the development of the ecoinvent database. You will be working on improving the database in various projects, some of which are very internationally oriented and some of which affect the core workings of the database. You will interact with data providers, support them in their work and participate in projects to improve the quality of the database. Due to the variability of the tasks you will get well acquainted with the structure of the database and the challenges of life cycle inventory modelling in general.

 

 

What we expect from you

 

Qualifications

This is an entry-level position. You should you have a Master’s Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or related fields. You had classes and have done projects in Life Cycle Assessment. Ideally, you are already familiar with the methodology and the data structure of the ecoinvent database and have practical experience with it. Fluency in English (written and oral) is a must, knowledge of German is an advantage. Proven experience in working in a multicultural environment is beneficial as well.

 

 

 

 

Competences

You are able to organize your work well, with an attention to detail. You feel at ease with complex systems of data and are able to learn the intricacies of complex systems with ease. Your work is both efficient and thorough, and you are able to plan your work in a systematic way. You are a self-motivated team player.

Junior Data Analyst

Senior Data Analyst or Project Manager (100%, 1 year)

 

What you can expect from us

An interesting and intellectually challenging work in an exciting environment. You will be managing your own tasks related to the continued development of the ecoinvent database. You will be working on improving the database in various projects, some of which are very internationally oriented and some of which affect the core workings of the database. You will interact with and coordinate data providers, assess results and work on projects to improve the quality of the database. The position will involve technical LCI and database analysis work as well as coordination and communication with a significant amount of international stakeholders.

 

What we expect from you

 

Qualifications

As a candidate you have a Master’s Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or related fields, and a minimum of 3-5 years of working experience on the field of Life Cycle Assesment. You have experience working with the ecoinvent database, and the methodology and the data structure of ecoinvent version 3. Generating high-quality LCIs has been a part of your work, and is something you are experienced in. Ideally you have managed complex projects independently and with success before. Fluency in English (written and oral) is a must, knowledge of German is an advantage. Proven experience in working in a multicultural environment is beneficial as well.

You are well organised, detail-oriented and have an efficient working approach. You are capable of organising complex projects, seeing them through, and respecting deadlines. You can get oriented easily and quickly in a complex system of data. You have the ability to work on multiple tasks at the same time and to coordinate other people’s work.
