As the year 2016 comes to an end, and we begin our Christmas holiday, ecoinvent is happy to share the following news with our LCA community. We all wish you happy holidays and are looking forward to successful cooperation in 2017.
The third update of ecoinvent version 3 has been released today – three years after 3.0 and only 8 months after the last update to ecoinvent 3.2.
The latest version delivers both in terms of quantity and quality - more data in form of a first part of the World Food LCA Database as well as various features providing more ease of use when working with ecoinvent.
The latest version of the ecoinvent database will be released soon. To make the wait more enjoyable we will be looking at some of the highlights of the new version in the newsletters leading up to the release of ecoinvent 3.2.

Ecoinvent's position towards the ILCD initiative of the European Commission

ecoinvent presentations at the SETAC Europa Annual Meeting in Porto
During the SETAC Europe Annual meeting in Porto, Portugal, two posters of the ecoinvent Centre will be presented. The first one, presented on Monday, May 21, 2007, during the Life Cycle Inventory Session deals with the environmental relevance of capital goods. The other one, presented on Wednesday, May 23, 2007 during the Poster Corner Session "Methodological issues on LCA of renewable biomass energies" deals with the compilation of LCI data on biofuels.
Paper on the environmental importance of capital goods and infrastructure published
Scientists working on ecoinvent datasets examined the importance of capital goods and infrastructures on the cumulative environmental impacts of products and services. The investigation revealed large differences between product groups and environmental indicators.
